The tour will begin with a visit to Miletus, an ancient city located near Akköy at the mouth of the Buyuk Menderes River. Miletus was a thriving city with a population ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 and played a significant role in trade due to its strategic location. It was home to renowned philosophers such as Anaximander, Anaximenes, and Thales, as well as the famous town planner Hippodamus and architect Isidorus. Over the centuries, Miletus came under the control of various powers, including the Lydians, Persians, Romans, and Seljuk Turks.
The next stop on the tour will be Didyma, which means "twins" in Greek. Legend has it that Didyma was the sacred meeting place of Zeus and Leto, where their twins Apollo and Artemis were conceived. Didyma was famous for its oracle dedicated to Apollo and served as a significant prophecy center, similar to the famous Delphi in Anatolia. Although not a city itself, Didyma was connected to Miletus by a sacred road spanning 19 kilometers (12 miles).
Following Didyma, we will visit the magnificent Ephesus Ancient City. Ephesus is renowned worldwide as one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman ancient cities. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore various notable attractions, including the Odeon where music concerts were held, the Domitian Temple, which was one of the first temples dedicated to a human, the Celcius Library, known as the third largest library of the ancient world, the grand amphitheater with a capacity of 24,000 people where St. Paul once preached, Roman Baths, Fountains, Temples, Agora, Love House, Public Toilets, and optionally, the Terrace Houses.
