About
Day 1 - Ancient Hippodrome + Blue Mosque + Hagia Sophia + Grand Bazaar
Your private guide will meet you at Istanbul port or your hotel at your preferred time. Istanbul, the only city in the world located on two continents, has been the capital of three great empires - Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman - for over 2000 years. Our tour begins at the Hippodrome Square, which was once a bustling venue for chariot races and Byzantine riots during the Roman and Byzantine periods. Just a short walk away, we will reach the magnificent Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece built in 532 AD by the Roman Emperor Justinian I. We will also visit the Blue Mosque, renowned for its stunning blue Iznik tiles. Following this, we will explore the vibrant Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. With its maze-like streets and over 1,200 shops, the Grand Bazaar offers a captivating shopping experience, featuring an array of items including jewelry, pottery, spices, and carpets. The bazaar has been attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors daily since its opening in 1461.
Day 2 - Topkapi Palace + Underground Cistern + Spice Market
On the second day, you will meet your guide at Istanbul Port and proceed to visit Topkapi Palace. This remarkable palace not only served as the residence of the Ottoman sultans but also functioned as the administrative and educational center of the empire. Constructed between 1460 and 1478 by Sultan Mehmed II, the conqueror of Constantinople, Topkapi Palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the sultans. During our visit, we will explore the palace's treasury, Chinese Porcelain collection, and weapons section. Afterwards, we will head to the Underground Cistern, the largest covered water reservoir in Istanbul, built by Justinian I. This impressive architectural marvel is a hidden gem that showcases the city's historical water management system. Finally, we will conclude the day with some free time to explore the Spice Market, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar. Here, you will be enchanted by the aromatic scents of various herbs, spices, and other culinary delights.
